Title:Communication & Marketing Specialist

Center Point is accepting applications for a Communications & Marketing Specialist for the Paris Board of Public Utilities located in Paris, TN.  This is a NEW position that is responsible for providing key support in implementation of communications and marketing strategic action plans which includes coordinating internal and external communications and serving as the spokesperson for the organization as directed by the General Manager.  This position offers excellent compensation package including medical, HSA with employer contribution, company paid vision, exceptional retirement contributions by employer, longevity, and generous paid time off.  Employees receive every other Friday off.  Applications must be received by Friday, 12/21.

Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $38,000-$40,000, depending on experience plus excellent benefit package
Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 7-4:30, off every other Friday!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide support & assistance with design & content updates to company website
  • Manage social media for the company including emergency posts as needed
  • Manage publication & distribution of external messages through press releases, customer newsletters, promotional campaigns, and educational materials
  • Serve as central point of contact for public relations advertising, charitable donations, and sponsorships
  • Identify customer engagement opportunities and implement initiatives that will engage BPU customers
  • Manage public safety education efforts
  • Manage publication & distribution of internal messages through memos, employees newsletters, message boards, etc.
  • Oversee employee engagement activities and employee opportunities to "give back" to the community
  • Must be available for after-hours emergency-response communication as needed.
  • Maintain professional & technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing professional networks

Required Experience:
  • High School Diploma
  • Degree in communications, public relations/journalism, or related business field is preferred but not required
  • Previous experience in one or more areas of social media, graphic design, document layout, public relations, or marketing is preferred but not required
  • Must be able to effectively and professional communicate both written and verbally
  • Must be customer and employee focused
  • Must be able to multi-task and maintain confidentiality of customer information
  • Must be customer service oriented and able to deal with various personalities while maintaining and developing working relationships inside and outside the organization
