Title:Executive Director of Economic Development

The Fulton County-Hickman County Economic Development Partnership (Fulton-Hickman EDP) is looking for its next Executive Director of Economic Development!  The Executive Director reports directly to the Fulton-Hickman EDP board of directors and is responsible for all business development activities related to recruitment, retention, and expansion.  

This is a contract position with a range of $60,000 - $75,000, depending on experience

Responsibilities of the Executive Director of Economic Development:

  • Develop industrial and commercial recruitment strategies
  • Create and manage marketing, advertising, and public relation campaigns and programs to promote economic development in the two counties
  • Implement creative solutions to actively recruit and target prospects
  • Perform economic analysis and fiscal impact analysis of commercial and industrial developments and related incentive packages
  • Facilitate regular progress updates with the board 
  • Investigate and identify growth opportunities for business relocation and expansions
  • Facilitate discussions and contract agreements between the city, county, private investors, and other agencies, while working with the City Attorney
  • Exercise creative initiative when identifying opportunities for economic development
  • Manage business operations including the annual budget, marketing efforts, and implementation of board initiatives and strategies
  • Make existing industry visits periodically and invite state and local officials when necessary
  • Continuously update industry-related marketing material, including hard and soft copies and on Economic Development website
  • Distribute marketing materials via email, mail and in-person
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with potential prospects including email correspondence, demographic information, community information, and updated media information
  • Maintain and foster strong relationships with local and state government officials as well as key stakeholders 
  • Coordinate the development, adoption, and execution of the Fulton County-Hickman County Economic Development Partnership long-range plan
  • Travel as needed
Requirements of the Executive Director:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Economic Development, Business, Communications or relevant field of study preferred
  • Certification or specialized training in Economic Development preferred
  • Grant writing experience preferred
  • Knowledge of zoning, land use law, designations and processes, and working knowledge of related regulations, and related community development services
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive business and/or economic development experience preferred
  • Strong communication, presentation, project management, and organization skills
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • Must be able to travel
