Description

ATA Employment Solutions is accepting applications for an Service Technician for a well-established manufacturing facility in Jackson, TN. This position provides electronic instrumentation and electrical expertise in designing, building, and trouble-shooting customer problems on tube mills and components. To be considered for this position, you must live in Jackson, TN or the surrounding area or you must be willing to relocate.

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Salary: $22-$30/hr depending on experience

Travel Requirements: Required to travel domestically (65%) and internationally (35%) to meet with customers and/or vendors. (Percentage of travel varies based on the needs of the business)
Location: Must live in Jackson, TN or the surrounding area or must be willing to relocate

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in related field preferred but not required
  • Technical training or at least 5 years of experience in the following areas: electrical wiring, electrical drawing (read and write), PLC programming (write new, modify existing, & troubleshoot), mechanical concepts, machining, and welding


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Install and maintain all phases of electrical and mechanical equipment, including running conduit, wiring, and troubleshooting motors, drives, relays, and pneumatic controls
  • Trouble-shoot and diagnose electrical problems
  • Program and troubleshoot PLC's
  • Ensure data and records are maintained and are current and readily available
  • Install and hook up all tube mill electrical components and instrumentation
  • Requisition spare parts and supplies required for maintaining equipment 
  • Record accurate test data and other quality control data
  • Exercise proper lockout and safety practices in the installation and maintaining of electrical systems and equipment
  • Effectively direct and coordinate electrical functions in wiring and hooking up plant machinery and equipment
  • Adequately maintain and service plant motors, hoists, forklift, and other facility equipment
  • Make service calls and trouble-shoot customer technical problems
  • Address customer complaints and problems using the utmost courtesy     
  • Keep current on schematics and technical manuals 
  • Generate and maintain service records and reports
  • Travel domestically and internationally to meet with customers and/or vendors
  • Assist in other areas as required to meet production demands and schedules

Required:
  • 3-5 years of service tech experience with tube mills or any electro/mechanical machines 
  • Ability to design electrical power and control schematics
  • Ability to troubleshoot and modify PLC programs
  • Ability to setup and diagnose electric motors and drives
  • Proficient in interpreting hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic schematics
  • Good understanding of electrical motors, electrical breakers, and motor controls
  • Must be able to effectively direct and train others
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Must possess a high level of professionalism
